Know your options- While it is entirely possible for you to help fix your credit yourself; there are many repair programs available that can actually help clean up your report. Before trying to use a service you should be aware that there are many scams in this area of credit repair. Some programs will guarantee you this and that and fail to deliver. Make sure you look around for different competitors online.

Know your limits- Part of getting your credit history back on track is being able to control your spending limits. You should not take out any more excess credit cards or debt if you can help it. Try and consolidate existing debt into one account if possible. This will give you a lower monthly interest payment that will end up saving you money in the long run.

Know your time period- Do not think that your bad credit rating will disappear overnight. You should be patient and accept the fact that it will take time to repair the damage done. Keeping good discipline and understanding that it will take time can often give you the patience needed to fix your credit.
